Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her assistance and dedication to bettering South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) expert services during an engagement using the agency's senior administrators at a strategic organizing session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the many social grant beneficiaries, who excelled during the 2024 matric examinations.
In the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing eighty one% on the registered pupils within the education sector.
These learners realized a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This indicates the expenditure government is earning inside the life of very poor and susceptible young children is yielding a good impression in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe claimed.
Reflecting on recent achievements, the Minister highlighted critical milestones and ongoing priorities. She committed to urgently addressing The problem of permanent leadership appointments and the scarcity of staff at most local workplaces.
Also, the Minister highlighted the need for Neighborhood-based engagements and outreach things to website do.
"Our community is expecting our huge intensification of community outreach, in which we prioritise underserved parts to bring providers nearer to our people today," she reiterated.
With regards to SASSA methods, Tolashe urged management to prioritise strengthening and modernising units to improve accessibility, queue management and prevent fraud.
Furthermore, the Minister has requested SASSA Acting CEO, Themba Matlou, to offer a system that seeks to take care of the worries of payment channels in rural areas by supplying an alternative Remedy for payments.
